Research Strategy
The research strategy of the MSc Programme in “Public Administration and Local Government” forms part of the broader strategic planning framework of the University of the Peloponnese and is connected with its educational mission, research development, innovation and outreach.
Since its establishment, the University of the Peloponnese has been one of Greece’s regional multi-campus universities, whose necessity was not limited exclusively to educational objectives. It constituted a significant intervention in the economic development of the Peloponnese Region and, at the same time, contributed substantially to strengthening the cultural identity of the wider Peloponnese area, as well as to improving living standards and social conditions.
Its multidisciplinary character is evident both in the education it provides and in the research it conducts. In addition, the international academic dimension of the University of the Peloponnese and the long-standing commitment of its staff to the quality of educational services have resulted in a significant presence in the academic landscape of Greece and the wider geographical region.
Within a rapidly changing environment, the University of the Peloponnese continues to pursue excellence in both education and research, responding to the challenges and demands of the future.
Within this framework, it is reorienting its research strategy around innovation, entrepreneurship, technology, the new digital era, large-scale development and the attraction of research funding.
Strategic Planning
The strategic objectives of the Department are linked to the corresponding objectives of the University. The fundamental principles that summarise the mission and vision of the MSc Programme in “Public Administration and Local Government” are aligned with the broader principles and vision of the Department and the University.
At the same time, the strategic objectives of the Department and the MSc Programme are linked to the corresponding objectives of the University, which include:
- Strengthening and upgrading educational activities.
- Strengthening and upgrading research and innovation.
- Strengthening outreach and external engagement.
- Strengthening and upgrading human resources.
- Strengthening, upgrading and improving the management of the University’s infrastructure and services.
Strategic Directions of the MSc Programme
The strategy of the MSc Programme is formulated by the Assembly of the Department of Business and Organisation Administration, based on the broader strategy of the University and with the aim of creating, through education, a strong foundation in the field of Management Science.
The student-centred learning process includes the acquisition of knowledge, experience and practical application, as well as the analysis, synthesis and evaluation of data, constraints and opportunities.
At the same time, the MSc Programme aims to prepare and guide the professional development, employability and competitiveness of its graduates through an understanding of the discipline using modern technological means and methods based on academic literature, research and contemporary digital tools.
Particular emphasis is placed on developing graduates’ ability to respond to the modern digital era, an ever-evolving society, the rapid expansion of knowledge and the changing demands of the labour market.
Knowledge is utilised through both basic and applied research, in the fields of Management as well as in interdisciplinary areas, through continuous monitoring of scientific developments and the expansion of its fields of application.
The MSc Programme also seeks to contribute to the reconstruction and development of the wider region and the country, in cooperation with productive organisations and businesses, through excellence, research, innovation, production, entrepreneurship, initiative and teamwork.
